The East African model Sabrina Dhowre Elba has already made it big in the entertainment industry with her modeling career. As the winner of Ms. and Mr. Vancouver Pageant in 2014, she has walked the runway for the likes of Roland Mouret.

The married duo was together since 2017 and engaged for just over a year before getting hitched. Sabrina and Idris had an amazing royal-wedding. Below are details of how the pair met, their wedding ceremony, and everything beyond.
Here’s How the Lovebirds Met
Sabrina Dhowre Elba and her husband Idris Elba first met at a bar in Canada. It was a Sunday night when Idris, who was in Vancouver for the shooting of his new movie, The Mountain Between Us, visited a nearby jazz bar. According to the duo, it was love at first sight for both of them.
Soon after, they started dating and even walked down the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2017. The Hobbs and Shaw star was there to promote his new movies, The Mountain Between Us and Molly’s Game.
Into a year of their relationship, Idris decided to propose Sabrina. Though he wanted to propose on Valentine’s Day, his busy schedule got in the way, and so, he got down on one knee on February 9, 2018, five days earlier than planned.
The romantic proposal took place at the Rio Cinema, and East London Theater, during the screening of Yardie. This film was his debut as a director.
The theater took to their social media to post about Idris and Sabrina’s romantic night. Also, ABC exclusively reported the news with a video of Elba proposing on stage.

Not Less Than A Royal Wedding
A year after their engaged life, Sabrina Dhowre Elba and her partner, Idris Elba, walked down the aisle on a grand wedding ceremony that spanned for three days. Their marriage started on April 26, 2019, and ended on April 29, 2019, at Marrakesh, Morrocco.
As we all know, Sabrina is from East Africa, while Idris is from the West. So, to make it easier for both families to attend the wedding, they chose a location in between.
Day 1 – Souk-themed Welcome Celebration at the Amanjena Hotel
Day 2 – The Wedding Ceremony at the Ksar Char Bagh Hotel
Day 3 – Lunch at Mandarin Oriental’s Poolside
The wedding celebration started on Friday evening, where Sabrina and her groom welcomed their 200 guests at the Amanjena Hotel. Their esteemed guests were taken to a grand replica of Jemaa El-Fnaa Square, which featured performances from bellydancers, fire-eaters, acrobats, and also from the afrobeat star, Davido.

During the eve of their wedding, the model wore a dress designed by Roland Mouret. As for the groom, he put on his tribe’s patterned fabric. By the way, the same fabric was used on the bride’s dress as well.
Idris and Sabrina took their marital vows on the 2nd Day (April 27, 2019) at the Ksar Char Bagh Hotel. While Elba donned a three-piece Ozwald Boateng Suit, his bride stunned in a Vera Wang gown which cost her a whopping £3,312 ($4,063). Sabrina wore Christian Louboutin shoes alongside David Morris’ diamond earrings and bracelet. The model walked down the aisle with her mother and finally joined in holy matrimony with Idris.

While talking to British Vogue, the famous designer, Vera Wang, revealed that Wang and the bride had shared calls first in January. Sabrina wanted something ‘dramatic and big,’ but Wang showed her the beauty of a simpler design. As per the bride’s request, the designer embroidered Idris’s arm tattoo (“This train carries no wrong do-ers”) on the hem of the wedding gown.
The last of the three-day wedding extravaganza saw guests and the newly married couple at the Mandarin Oriental poolside. The wedding celebrations ended after beautiful fireworks lit up the sky. During the closing of the celebrations, Sabrina told the British Vogue that she and her husband want the guests to remember the importance of love because love is what matters the most.
Do Sabrina and Idris Have Kids?
It’s been a year since Sabrina and Idris Elba got married, but to date, there hasn’t been any news of them getting pregnant. Though that, the husband and wife duo is still parents to Idris’s child from previous relationships.
Idris had given birth to a baby girl with his first wife, Hannae Kim Norgaar (m.1999-2003). His daughter, Isan Elba, was born in 2002. Likewise, his second child was with his former girlfriend, Naiyana Garth. His son, Winston Elba, was born in 2014.
Love for Each Other
Sabrina Dhowre and Idris Elba have been together for three years now, and still, they are as much in love as they were during the start of their relationship.
Just recently, after the Coronavirus outbreak, the actor tested positive for the virus but, Dhowre was still by her husband’s side. The next day, Sabrina was also tested positive for COVID-19.
Their fans criticized Sabrina for staying with Idris though she knew about the virus. But, her husband supported her and said in his Twitter video,
Just for clarification, Sabrina wanted to be by my side, you know. As much as we talked about her not coming to where I am, she did and wanted to, and I love her even more for it, and I would do the same for her. Who am I to turn down my wife’s support?

Sabrina also spoke to Oprah Winfrey about her being together with her partner. She said,
I wanted to be with him. That’s the instinct of a wife. You want to go and take care.
