The British TV personality, Lisa Vanderpump who is famous for her appearance in Vanderpump Rules and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, shared her thoughts on the killing of George Floyd and the peaceful/violent protests against the misdeeds of the former Minneapolis Police officer, Derek Chauvin who pinned him down.

On an Instagram post on June 1, 2020, Vanderpump showed her concern over the tragic events that are taking place all around the US for the past few days. While talking about the injustice black people are facing due to their color, she stressed out that justice won’t be served until those who are unaffected by it aren’t as outraged as those who are.

Lisa wrote,
This is about our humanity. Everybody deserves to feel safe in this country. Everybody deserves to feel valued and heard. Nobody should have to face the fears that so many people face daily.

Vanderpump shared that she feels for each and every person who is marginalized or persecuted in their community.

The 59 years old then shifted her focus on talking about the protests to fight the racial injustice. She revealed that she’s been a big believer of peaceful demonstrations as she believes it’s essential to be heard for the things you believe in and fight the injustice.

But, she’s saddened by the fact that the peaceful protests have gone awry and are accompanied by violence and destruction.
The violence and destruction that accompanied some of these protests is heartbreaking, and it’s devastating to see the hate and the hurt that so many people are feeling.

With all this violent outbreak all over the US, Vanderpump claims that there wouldn’t be justice until those who are unaffected support the movement.
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” Enough is enough.

Following the incident, a lot of celebrities have spoken against the racial injustice the African American people have been facing for over a century.
The Black Lives Matter Foundation is asking the government to “defund the police,” following this dreadful experience. They believe that Floyd’s death is a breaking point for Black people.
We call for an end to the systemic racism that allows this culture of corruption to go unchecked and our lives to be taken. We call for a national defunding of police. We demand investment in our communities and the resources to ensure Black people not only survive but thrive.

The former officer, Derek Chauvin, who pinned down late George Floyd by his neck for 8 minutes 46 seconds as he begged for air, killing him, was relieved of his duties and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter on Friday. If he is convicted of murder, he will face a prison sentence for 12 years.
An autopsy revealed that Floyd died due to his heart disease and from being restrained. In addition to it, potential intoxication was also termed as the cause of his death.
