The host who has been relishing a second marriage with wife Jean Currivan Trebek had first married Elaine Trebek Kares on 25 September 1974. They first met while both of them were working for a broadcasting company, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company).
After their marriage, Alex even adopted Elaine’s daughter, changing her name to Nicky Trebek. Sadly, their marital bond ended after seven years on 13th May 1982.

After Elaine’s divorce with Alex, she remained out of the relationship for some while. Nonetheless, in 2001, she decided to tie the knot with Peter Kares, the director-producer of the 1975’s comedy-movie entitled The Night They Robbed Big Bertha’s.
