Dan and Lori Greiner shared their vows in 2010 after more than a decade of dating. They first met at a bar in Chicago’s trendy Lincoln Park area in 1996. Soon after, they started dating and began working together.

While talking about their relationship in her book, Lori wrote, “Dan is a numbers guy; I’m the inventor. That’s why we’re a perfect team”.

An employee told Chicago Business, she was amazed by Dan and Lori’s commitment to each other and that she would kill her husband if they were to be together 24/7. “I am amazed at their relationship. I love my husband, but I’d kill him if I had to be with him 24/7.”

Dan and Lori have been working together since they started dating more than two decades ago. Lori created the idea of an acrylic jewelry organizer in the mid-90s and her now-husband encouraged her to sketch out her ideas. In her book, Invent it, Sell it, Bank it!: Make your Million-Dollar Idea into a Reality, she wrote,

He’s cautious–not at all the type to push the envelope. And yet, in this instance he was on board from the minute I told him about my idea.

Soon after, the pair took out a $120,000 loan against their house and started manufacturing their product. They started their business in 1996 and when the product gained popularity, Dan left his job to fully support their business working as the Vice President.

Dan Greiner started his career as a certified public accountant for Grant Thornton LLP in 1987. After working as a consulting, audit, and tax specialist for three years, he left the company in 1990.

The same year, he joined Bell & Howell as a Divison Controller where he looked after financial projections, budgeting, accounting, SEC reporting, mergers, and acquisitions. He was a part of the company till 1998.

Two years prior, Dan had opened his firm, For You Ease Only, together with his wife. When the company rose to prominence, Dan left Bell & Howell to focus on his own company. He has been working as the Vice President of the company for over 25 years now.

Greiner has also been the co-founder, Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Lori Greiner Companies since January 1997. While his wife takes care of the innovation side, he supervises the financial side of the business.
