Ali was born as the first child to Sean and his wife, Christine Harrell on November 27, 1996. She is the granddaughter of actress, Patty Duke and Michael Tell.

Parents Together Since 1991

Ali’s parents first met in 1990 while her mother was working as an assistant at Special Artists Agency in Bever Hills. They started dating soon after their first meeting.

After more than a year of dating, they walked down the aisle on July 11, 1992. They have been together ever since.

Education

In 2011, Ali Astin joined Oaks Christian School and completed her schooling in 2015. Soon after, she joined Harvard University and completed her Bachelor’s in Dance, Theater, and Media in 2019.

From 2020 to 2021, she did the Family Literacy program at Penn State University. As of now, she has enrolled in Harvard Extension School for her Master’s Degree in Dramatic Arts.

Career as an Actor

Not only did Alexandra Louise do theater training through Second City, but she also received her training from Lucid Body House Movement, Stellar Adler Academy, UCB, Groundlings, and UCLA School of Theater.

She began her acting career on stage with SCCT Regional Theater and has performed in several productions. Some of her notable theater projects include The Rental, Nine: The Musical, This Is Our Youth, Theater Much Ado About Nothing, First Day Of School, and Arcadia.

She also has been in plays such as The Nightfall Hotel, Of Carnage, and Disney’s High School Musical On Stage.

Astin also had a brief appearance as Elanor in Lord of the Rings: Return of the King alongside her father.

Career as a Director

Ali is also involved in the showbiz as a director. Though she is yet to direct a movie on the big screen, she has already directed several theater projects such as The Cockfight Play, The Branch, On The Nose, and Romeo And Juliet.

Model and Yoga Teacher

Alexandra Astin started her career as a model when she was around 16 years old. Besides, she, being a fitness freak, encourages her followers to lead a healthy lifestyle by doing yoga, pilates, hiking, and eating a balanced diet.

She served as a voice talent management intern at Crest Animation Studios, an Audio Production Project Manager at Colorblind Fish Music, and a production assistant at Momentum Pictures Inc.

She is also involved in Stella Adler Academy of Acting and The Pitiless Peach Theater Company.

In mid-2020, she also worked as a visiting assistant professor at John Hopkins University. During the same time, she also worked as an audio producer at Audible.

Ali also has TISCH Certification in Cinematography and Film/Video Production from New York University.
